Read the Bible in a Year | Bible Study - 2018

Purpose:
The purpose of this study will be to encourage the disciple to read the Bible
in a year to gain insights on their personal calling by God.The sister blog,
Bible in Time, is intended to be a devotional and prayer area. This blog will
take the reader through the Bible in a year with additional study notes that
I will provide.

The study this year will be using Biblegateway.com listings and readings
to accomplish the goal of reading the Bible in a year. It is intended as a
starting point and not an exhaustive study or commentary of sections
of the Bible.

The slant of this study is from my point of view and does not reflect any
particular branch of Christianity. My background is Christian Lutheran (ELCA)
and have had the blessing of being theologically trained (late 1970s & 80s).
I worship and pray the Daily Office (Episcopal). I am a church worker in a
Catholic community in Oregon where I teach people about discipleship and giving.

What is God calling you to do? How does this piece of Scripture build my
relationship closer to God in order for me to do my calling from the Lord better?
These are the primary questions that I am approaching the study.

Prayer:
Blessed Lord, who caused all holy Scriptures to be written for our learning:
Grant us so to hear them, read, mark, learn, and inwardly digest them,
that we may embrace and ever hold fast the blessed hope of everlasting life,
which you have given us in our Savior Jesus Christ;
who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever.
Amen.

Collect of the Day: Pentecost, proper 28

The Peace of the Lord be with you always.

Blessings,
